My Story
With over 23 years of experience in electrical design and project management, I specialize in high, medium, and low voltage systems, substations, and switchgear design. My expertise includes comprehensive LV/MV/HV switchgear designs that comply with IEC/NEMA/ANSI standards. Since earning my B.E. in Electrical Engineering from NED University in 2001, I have worked on major projects with Siemens and Schneider Electric Pakistan.
A notable achievement was leading the "BLOKSET" design for M/S Ibrahim Fibers Ltd, overseeing the installation of 300+ panels across five substations. My efforts were recognized with an appreciation letter from Polytek Associates. I also deliver training on electrical design and solar systems, with key contributions to projects like TP-1000 (220kV GIS, AIS / 132kV GIS, AIS).

Professional Achievements
Technical Workshop at Pakistan Navy Engineering College - NUST
A technical workshop was led at Pakistan Navy Engineering College - NUST, connecting academic knowledge with practical industry insights. The workshop provided students with a deep dive into electrical designing and switchgear for low to medium voltage systems, focusing on the real-world challenges and applications they are likely to encounter in their careers.
The session also emphasized the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in fostering innovation and excellence in engineering. Students were encouraged to actively engage with STEM disciplines, underlining their critical role in shaping the future of technology and engineering.
Sincere gratitude is extended to NUST for providing the platform to share valuable industry experience and help prepare the next generation of engineers. The opportunity was both rewarding and inspiring, reaffirming a commitment to both engineering and mentorship.
Polytek Associates Pvt Ltd. Appreciation Letter
During my tenure at Schneider Electric, I played a pivotal role in the M/S Ibrahim Fibers Ltd (Walcot-III) project, where I was recognized with an appreciation letter from Polytek Associates, issued by Pervaiz Iqbal Butt, Chief Executive. At the time, I was known as Seema Rafique. This accolade highlighted my contributions to deploying the innovative 'Blokset' design in Pakistan.
In this project, I led the implementation of over 300 Blokset panels across five substations. As the design lead, I was responsible for overseeing the substation layout, panel placement, and the development of power and control schemes. My role involved meticulous component selection, ensuring compliance with IP class and copper temperature ratings. I successfully integrated interlocking, interfacing, and cable termination plans, including transformer star-delta configurations, to deliver a comprehensive and cohesive solution, while meeting all project specifications and standards.
Although the project was a team effort, my role as an electrical design engineer was crucial in coordinating the design and implementation phases with the production and project teams. This collaboration ensured that all elements of the project were seamlessly executed, leading to its success.

Training on On-Grid Solar System Design - Exide Pakistan Limited
I conducted comprehensive training on "On-Grid Solar System Design" for Exide Pakistan Limited, focusing on essential skills and methodologies for designing efficient solar systems. This training included detailed instructions on AC/DC cable and loss calculations, voltage drop assessments, and circuit breaker selection.
Participants were trained to design cable trays and trenches for organized cable management, plan and execute cable laying and bending techniques, and select DC/AC switchgear based on IP class and protection standards. The program also covered busbar calculations and short circuit evaluations to ensure system stability and proper protection.
TThrough this training, participants gained proficiency in analyzing electrical systems and making informed design decisions, empowering them to contribute effectively to On-Grid Solar System Design projects and advance their careers.
NED University of Engineering and Technology
I led two training sessions at NED University of Engineering & Technology, focusing on "Electrical Designing & Drafting" for Residential and Commercial Buildings (230V/415V). These workshops, held in September and November 2022, were aimed at fresh electrical engineering graduates and those entering the field, covering topics such as load calculations, illumination/lighting design, protection/CB selection, cable calculations, load schedules, single-line diagram design, distribution board design, case studies, and design projects. These sessions highlighted my commitment to advancing STEM education and provided participants with a solid foundation in electrical design principles.
As an advocate for STEM, I am dedicated to fostering a new generation of skilled engineers and promoting the growth of technical expertise in the field. My diverse experiences and innovative approach to teaching have enabled me to make a significant impact in the professional development of young engineers.
